Meyssan,Thierry Thierry Meyssan is the director of the Voltaire Network and author of two books on 9/11: «««L'effrayable imposture» "The Big Lie" and «LePentagate» "Pentagate". The Voltaire Network is a think-tank on the effects of globalization, and has a wealth of information, both free and available by paid subscription, on a wide range of issues: http://www.reseauvoltaire.net «L'effrayable imposture» "The Big Lie" caused a furor when it was first published in 2002, in part because he claimed that no plane crashed into the Pentagon, but more likely a missile. His book claimed that eyewitness accounts of the crash are contradictory, that photographs of the scene show no wreckage of an airliner, and that the damage to the building is inconsistent with an authentic air crash. He argued that by looking at the photographic documentation of the crash, it is clear a huge explosion occurred at the Pentagon. The problem is, the same photographic evidence proves beyond reasonable doubt that such damage could not be caused by a Boeing 757 travelling at a speed of 250-450 mph. The crash of the Pentagon would be the only case in the history of aviation when after the collision not a single piece of the plane is recovered because all the plane is melted in an explosion, which oddly enough does not affect the green grass on the field right in front of the building. Or how can a plane of that size and with such a wide wing span makes a hole in the building which is at least 50% smaller than the size of the plane, barely wide enough for the fuselage. In other words how is it possible that the wings and the motors did not touch the building? Or how a plane of that size and characteristics gets into the most heavily guarded air space of the USA and no single civil or military radar cares to wonder what is it doing there? 911review.org uncritically embraces Meyssan's wildly innaccurate analysis even though others make a much stronger case that no 757 crashed into the Pentagon -- a dubious conclusion in any case. The above paragraph implies that a 757's fuselage is half as wide as its wingspan, and that radar is sentient. Meyssan's books, perhaps more than anything else helped to identify the 9/11 Truth Movement with the no-Boeing theory, which was then used to discredit it. Since then, Mr. Meyssan has refined his original thesis with a follow-up book «Le Pentagate» LePentagate, which is considerably more accurate and focussed than The Big Lie.
